How it works
Admin and security
What an owner or administrator looks after in Kila, from people and their roles to devices, settings, connections and the plan, and where each one is.
Owners and administrators keep Kila set up for the business: who can sign in and what they can do, which devices sell, how the business runs, what it connects to and what it pays for. Almost all of it is under Administration in the menu. Kila keeps a record of every change in the audit log.
People and access
Link to this section: People and access- Add a user: everyone signs in as themselves, with the role that matches their job.
- Suspend or remove a user: when someone leaves. Their records stay.
- How roles and permissions work: what each role may do and approve.
- Create a custom role and Set approval limits for a role.
- Switch on two-step verification: a code from your phone at sign-in, recommended for owners and administrators.
Tills and devices
Link to this section: Tills and devices- Approve a till device: the computers, tablets and phones that sell, and which may sell offline.
- Set up a receipt printer, drawer or scale: what is plugged into each till.
Keeping track
Link to this section: Keeping track- Find an action in the audit log: who changed what, and when.
Your records
Link to this section: Your records- Bring your products into Kila: moving in from Excel or another system.
- Export all your business data: a full copy, any time.
- Data and privacy: customers’ requests, the privacy notice and how long Kila keeps what.
How the business runs
Link to this section: How the business runs- Settings: a tour of the tabs.
- Your business profile: your kind of business, its rules and words.
- Choose a menu layout: Classic, Hubs, Workspaces or Processes.
- Integrations and API: M-Pesa, eTIMS, card payments, email and SMS.
- Create an API key: for your own systems.
- Your plan and billing: what your plan includes, the trial and Kila’s invoices.
Needs a manager
Most of this is for owners and administrators. Only owners pay Kila’s invoices, export all the data, and change the business profile and menu layout. An administrator has the rest: “Manages users, branches and settings.”
