Fresh produce

A fruit and vegetable shop runs as a shop in Kila with the Food safety and Weighed goods rules, a home page that counts the kilos sold and the waste, and a set-up list that starts with the scales.

A fresh produce shop sells fruit and vegetables, mostly by the kilo, and throws away what spoils. Kila runs it as a shop with the rules for food and for selling by weight.

  • Selling by weight. The till weighs, takes the container off and prices by the kilo, or sells by amount: see Selling by weight and Change quantities and sell by weight.
  • Food safety. Batches with their dates, waste written off with its reason, the cold room log and the certificates: see Food safety.
  • Its home page adds Sold today in kg, and waste and Cold room readings today, and its set-up list adds Scales, PLU codes and products sold by weight, with no step for the scanner, receipt printer and drawer.

There is no demo fresh produce shop yet. Soko Fresh Mini-Mart sells its fruit and vegetables by the kilo, and Nyama Bora Butchery keeps the cold room log and writes off its waste.

The main screen is Till (scan and sell).

Rules it follows:

  • Food safety: Expiry, waste, temperature and hygiene checks
  • Weighed goods: Sell by weight from a scale or price-embedded barcodes
