Step by step
Sell to a clinic or another pharmacy
A licensed clinic, hospital, pharmacy or distributor buys as a trade customer, at its own prices, with no prescription or pharmacist step at the till.
A clinic that buys medicines for its own patients is licensed to hold them, so the sale is a trade, not dispensing. Kila treats a customer in the category Pharmacy, Hospital, Clinic or Distributor as a trade customer: no prescription and no pharmacist’s approval at the till. At Dawa Bora Chemists, Uzima Medical Centre and Nyota Family Clinic are clinics on account.
Put the clinic on the sale
Tap Add a customer (optional) and find the clinic. Its line shows its category, Clinic, its price list, such as Prices Clinics (trade), and the credit it has left.
Add the medicines
Add them as for any sale. They sell at the clinic’s trade prices: amoxicillin 500mg capsules at KES 240.00 instead of KES 280.00 over the counter.
Tap Charge
The payment says: “A trade sale to a licensed customer: no prescription or pharmacist approval at the counter. Controlled drugs are still entered in the register.” There is no prescription to record.
Put it on the clinic's account
Choose On account. Kila says how much credit the clinic has left, such as “Uzima Medical Centre has KES 241,040.00 of credit left.” Tap Take on account. The clinic can also pay by cash, M-Pesa, card or bank transfer.
Finish the sale
Kila shows Sale S-… complete, paid on the clinic’s account.
The law says
The Pharmacy and Poisons Act (Cap. 244) lets medicines be supplied without a prescription only to licensed premises and practitioners. Kila trusts the customer’s category: keep a copy of each trade customer’s current licence before you put them in a trade category.
