Step by step
Charge a restaurant or bar bill to a room
At the hotel's restaurant or bar, put the guest's order on a tab and charge the tab to their room. It goes on their folio, and they pay it when they check out.
A guest staying at the hotel can eat and drink at its restaurant and bar without paying there: the bill goes on their room. At the lodge, Kevin Omondi runs the Lakeside Restaurant’s till and Collins Kipkemboi the Papyrus Bar’s; both charge to rooms the same way.
Put the order on a tab
Add what the guest orders to the cart, tap Add to tab and choose New tab (or a tab already open for them). Kila says how it works: “Served now, paid later. It leaves stock now and is charged when the bill is paid.”
When they are done, open the tab
Tap the tab under Open tabs. It shows each round and what there is To pay.
Tap Charge to room
Charge to room sits beside Charge on the tab.
Find the guest
Type the Room number or guest’s name. Only guests in the house are listed, each with their room, their reservation and the day they leave.
Choose them
Tap the guest’s line. Check the room number with the guest.
Tap Charge
The button names the amount and the room, such as Charge KES 1,800.00 to 101. Kila says Charged to room 101: “KES 1,800.00 is on Wanjiku Kiptoo’s folio.” The tab is closed.
See it on the folio
At the front desk the bill is a line on the guest’s folio, marked Outlet, with the restaurant, the tab and its sale number (7). The guest pays it at check-out with everything else.
- Post charges and take payments on the folio: what the folio holds.
- Check a guest out: where the bill is paid.
- Food and drink cashier: the restaurant and bar cashier’s day.
Next: the guest pays the folio when they check out.
