Step by step
Verify a deadline
A deadline worked out from a rule stays provisional until a second person checks the working against its source and verifies it.
Kila works a deadline out from the rule and the date that starts it, such as 14 days after service of the defence, and shows each step. A date worked out this way is Provisional until someone other than the person who made it checks it: “It stays provisional until a second person verifies it.”
Before you start
Link to this section: Before you startYou need the right to verify deadlines; at Wanjiru & Otieno Advocates the partners and the advocates have it. You cannot verify a date you made or changed yourself: “You made or changed this date, so a colleague who verifies deadlines checks it against its source.”
Open the deadlines to verify
Go to My work › Deadlines and tap To verify. Tap the deadline to open it.
Check the working against its source
Kila says: “Check the working against the source (the order, the date of service, the rule) and verify it.” How it was worked out gives the rule, its source and version, and each step, such as “29 October 2026 itself is not counted (Interpretation and General Provisions Act, s. 57(a)).” Compare them with the order, the affidavit of service or the rule itself.
Tap Verify and say what you checked
Verify the deadline reminds you: “Check it against its source before you verify it: you are the second person.” Under What you checked it against, write what you compared it with, then tap Verify.
Read the result
Kila says Saved. The deadline shows Verified, with your name, the time and your Verification note.
The law says
Each rule shows its source and version, such as “Civil Procedure Rules 2010, Order 7 rule 17(1). Rule version KE-2026.1.” The calculator says: “Kenyan public holidays and the court vacations are applied.” The second person checks the date against the order or the rule that applies to the matter: verifying is the firm’s decision.
The date is wrong

You want to work a date out first
