Transport officer

Your day as transport officer in Kila, from the morning and evening bus rolls to telling a route's guardians the bus is late.

As transport officer you look after the school buses: the routes and stops, the morning and evening bus rolls, the learners on each route, and messages to their guardians.

Kila opens My day. Registers and roll calls lists every route twice, the morning run and the evening run, with how many learners ride it. A run still to take is marked Take it; one taken shows Taken, or how many are absent.

Your day

Morning run. As the bus collects, tap the route’s morning run and mark who is not there. Each learner shows their class and stop: Take a roll call.
A late bus. Open the route’s roll and tap Bus running late: every guardian on the route gets the school’s text.
Evening run. Take the evening run the same way as the bus drops the learners.

What you can do

Take a roll call for each route’s morning and evening run.
Tell a route’s guardians the bus is running late.
Edit learners’ records, including their route and stop, and send messages to a route’s guardians.

What needs a manager

Passes and the gate are the gate’s and the matron’s: see Let a learner out on a pass.
A route’s fee. Putting a learner on a route adds the route’s fee item to the learner’s optional fees; billing it is the bursar’s. See Bursar.

No approval limits: anything that needs approval goes to someone else.

Common questions

I tapped Bus running late but Kila says Not sent. Why? Kila texts a route’s guardians at most once in 15 minutes, however many people tap. Wait a few minutes before telling them again.

Are the guardians’ texts delivered? SMS is in test mode until an SMS provider is connected: messages are kept in the message log and not delivered to phones.
