Move or extend a stay

A guest asks for a quieter room, or to stay another night. Both changes start from the guest’s folio, and Kila checks the room is free for the nights before it changes anything.

Steps

1. Open the folio and choose More › Move room

   Open the guest’s folio from Hotel › Front desk (In the house) or the room grid, tap More and choose Move room.

2. Choose the new room

   The New room list shows each room with its type. It marks a room still to clean (not cleaned) and one that is (out of order).

3. Tap Move

   Kila says where the guest is now, such as RES-000162 is in room 204. Where the hotel’s door locks are connected, it makes the guest a code for the new room: New keys for room 204 are on the way.

4. To change the night they leave, choose More › Extend or shorten

   Extend or shorten the stay shows the arrival, which cannot change once the guest is in the house, and the departure.

5. Change the Departure

   Choose the day they now leave.

6. Tap Save

   Kila says how long the stay is now, such as RES-000162 extended: now 2 nights, leaving 2026-11-01. Where the door locks are connected, it adds New keys for the new dates for the guest.

Not available yet

The new keys in this example were made by Kila’s simulator on the demo site. On a live Kila, keys come only from a lock system connected and live: “Test mode runs on Kila’s demo site only. Connect the lock system and switch it to live, or give keys by hand.” Without one, hand the guest the key to the new room yourself.

On the room grid

On Hotel › Room grid, drag a guest’s bar to another room to move them, or drag the end of the bar to another night to change the departure. Kila asks before it changes anything, for example Extend Erik Johansson’s stay? with “Leaving Mon 2 Nov instead of Sun 1 Nov: 3 nights.” Tap Change the departure (1), or Cancel.

Good to know

A reservation that has not arrived yet has Change dates in its More menu, which moves the arrival too, and its bar can be dragged to other dates on the grid.

Room 103 is taken by RES-000159 from 2026-10-30 to 2026-10-31.

Another stay has that room on some of the nights. Choose another room; the room grid shows which rooms are free.

The new room is of another type

Kila asks whether to Charge the new room type’s rate. Leave it off for an upgrade at the rate the guest booked (“Off: an upgrade at the booked rate.”), or switch it on to charge the new type’s rate.
