Step by step
Book a client
Put a client in the diary with the person who will do the service. Kila only offers people who have the skill and are free at that time.
Steps differ for events venues.
The diary is the front desk’s main screen: a column for each stylist or therapist, the day’s times down the side. A booking holds that person’s time for the length of the service, so nobody else can be booked into it.
Before you start
Link to this section: Before you start- At the front desk till, your shift is open: the till shows the Diary once it is. A salon manager books from Front desk › Front desk, which has the same diary.
Go to the day
The till opens on the Diary, on today. Tap the arrow next to Today to go forward a day at a time.
Tap New booking
You can also tap an empty time in a person’s column: the booking starts with them at that time.
Choose the client
Under Customer, keep Existing, type part of the client’s name, phone or number and tap them in the list. For someone who is not in Kila yet, tap Walk-in and type their name, and their phone if they give it.
Choose the service
Pick it under Service. Each service shows how long it takes and its price, such as Skin fade · 35 min · KES 700.
Set the day and time
Check Date and set Start time. Under With, Kila lists everyone who can do that service, each marked Free or Busy at that time.
Choose who does it
Tap a person marked Free. Under the list Kila says how long the booking holds them, such as 35 minutes, then 5 minutes to reset.
Tap Book
Kila says Booked with the booking’s number, such as APT-000669 booked. The booking shows in that person’s column and under Arrivals for that day.
Tip
A regular who comes every week: before you tap Book, choose Every week for 4 weeks (from 2 to 12) under Repeat. “Each week is checked for clashes before anything is booked.”
For your business

Events are quoted, not booked here. A wedding or a conference is held with Quote an event under Events › Events and venue hire, which keeps the space for set-up and clearing too. The front office uses the diary for site visits and menu tastings. See Events venues.
Steps differ for events venues. Nothing here differs for your business, .
The person the client wants is Busy
Link to this section: The person the client wants is BusyKila says why under their name, such as Dennis Kiprop is booked 10:30 to 11:05 (APT-000669, Skin fade plus 5 minutes to reset). or Kelvin Otieno does not work on Tuesdays. Choose someone else who is Free or another time. Or tap Find a time on the diary, choose the service and, under With, the person: Kila lists “the next free times over a week”. Tap a time to book it.
The service needs a room
Link to this section: The service needs a roomSome services also need a room, such as lash extensions in the lash and facial room: the list says needs a room after the price. Kila then asks for Room as well: the service “reserves a room for the same time. It shows on the calendar as held.” Choose a free room before you tap Book.
