Your role

Animal health officer

Your day as an agrovet's animal health officer. You sell prescription-only veterinary medicines on a vet's prescription, sell your services such as vaccination and AI at the till, and advise farmers.

Kila describes the role: “Sells prescription-only veterinary medicines on a vet’s prescription, advises; services such as vaccination and AI.” Kila offers it to businesses under the Farm chemicals rules, such as agrovets and agricultural-input distributors. At Mkulima Agrovet, Josphat Kiprono is the animal health officer at Nakuru town, on Till 3.

Kila opens Home: “Here is the work waiting at Mkulima Agrovet today.” Open the till (1) takes you to your till. Your role does not include the business’s figures, so the cards are about your work: Low or out of stock, Stock expiring or low (3), with the batches near their date, and Services due and reminders. Vet prescriptions (2), in the Agrovet section of the menu, lists every sale on a vet’s prescription.

  1. Open your shift: Open a shift.
  2. Sell prescription-only medicines on the vet’s prescription. The payment shows Vet prescription: with the medicine, and asks for the vet, their KVB number, the animal or herd and the date on the prescription. The receipt gives the withdrawal period: Sell on a vet’s prescription.
  3. Sell your services, such as vaccination and AI, at the till: see below.
  4. Record the advice you give under Agrovet › Advice records, with Record advice: the farmer, the crop or animal, the problem, the advice, the products with their rates, and when to follow up.
  5. Close your shift when you finish: Close a shift.

Your till has Sale and Order (1). Your services are under the Animal health services tab (2): at Mkulima Agrovet, vaccination per animal, artificial insemination and the farm visit. Tap one and it goes in the cart, as any product does.

Needs a manager

  • Discounts and prices. Neither is yours to change. Open a line in the cart and Kila says “Your role cannot give discounts on this item.” and “Your role cannot change prices. Ask a supervisor.”
  • Returns and quotations. Your till has no Return and no Quotation: the agro-dealer in charge or a cashier takes them.

Why does the till not stop me, as it stops the cashiers? You are the qualified person: your role allows it, and your Kenya Veterinary Board registration number is on your profile under Users and roles, as Josphat Kiprono’s is (KVB/AHA/2021/0412). Without the number, the payment would say:

Kila shows:
Only a qualified person (an animal health officer or vet with their registration recorded) sells these. Ask them to ring the sale.

Ask the owner to record it.

The farmer has no prescription. Can I sell the medicine? No. Kila cannot take the payment without the vet, their KVB number and the animal. Sell the rest of the sale without it.

Where do I find a sale I made on a prescription? Under Agrovet › Vet prescriptions, with the vet, the animal, the medicines with their withdrawal periods, and you as the person who sold them.
