Your business

General / Other

For a business that is none of Kila's other kinds, or several of them: the till and the core from the first day, the rest added in groups, and a suggestion when a closer kind of business fits.

General / Other is for a business that fits none of Kila’s other types, or does several kinds of work. It is the one type on the General profile, and it starts with no extra rules.

  • Your answer at sign-up leads here. Several of these and None of these, under How do you mostly get paid?, both leave General / Other as the only type of business.
  • A short start. The till, stock, buying, services, customers, credit, the books and the compliance calendar are there from the first day. The rest waits on Business profile, where What your business does adds a group of modules in one step: Add what your business does.
  • The till sells without a shift, unless the owner switches on Cashiers open a shift before selling.
  • Kila suggests a closer kind of business once most of your work is one kind. If you move, the type stays General / Other, and Business profile says “General / Other usually runs on the General profile: A curated start: add what you need.”, with See General to move back: Move to a closer kind of business.
  • Rules can be added under Business profile › Rules that apply, such as Alcohol for a business that also sells drinks: “Overlays add the rules a business must follow, usually by law, without changing how it works.”

Kila Test Lab, the demo business with every module switched on, is General / Other.
