Your role

Salon manager

You run the floor of a salon or spa. The diary, walk-ins, the waitlist, deposits and no-shows, chair renters' rent and settlements, and messages to clients who agreed. Settings and users stay with the owner.

As salon manager you run the floor. Kila describes the role as the one that “Runs the floor: the diary, walk-ins, the waitlist, deposits and no-shows, chair renters’ rent and settlements, and messages to clients who agreed. No settings or users.” At a spa the same role runs the spa.

Kila opens the Front desk: “The diary by stylist with who arrives, who waits, who is ready to pay and whom to confirm for tomorrow.” Above the diary (1) are the waitlist today, birthdays this week and what is held for renters (2), and beside it the arrivals, walk-ins, visits to charge and tomorrow’s clients.

  1. The diary. Keep the day moving: bookings, arrivals, walk-ins and the waitlist: Book a client and Serve walk-ins.
  2. Deposits and no-shows. When a client does not come, apply the service’s rule for the deposit: Take a booking deposit.
  3. Chair renters. See what is held for each renter and settle with them: Rent a chair to a stylist.
  4. Messages to clients who agreed to them, under Clients and messages. “SMS is in test mode until a gateway is connected.”
  5. Commission. See what each stylist earned, line by line: Work out commission.
  • Everything the front desk does on the diary and at the till.
  • Apply the no-show rules for deposits.
  • Look after the chair renters: their rent, takings held and settlements.
  • Messages to clients who agreed to them.
  • See every stylist’s commission and the rates.

Needs a manager

  • Settings and users are the owner’s: the front desk settings, the deposit rules on the services and who has which role. The Front desk has no Settings tab for you.
  • Commission rates and rules are the owner’s: you see them, but Save rate is not there for you.

Where is the waitlist? On the Front desk, under Waitlist, and in the menu under Front desk.

How much do we hold for the chair renters? The Front desk shows it above the diary, such as Held for renters KES 4,526, and Chair renters has each renter’s takings held and rent owing.
