Medical laboratory
A medical laboratory takes samples, tests them and releases the results, on the clinic's screens and its Lab worklist.
A medical laboratory: patients come with a request, give a sample and collect their results. Kila runs it on the clinic’s screens, and the lab works from Clinic › Lab.
Good to know
No demo business runs as a medical laboratory, so this page shows what Kila sets up for one and the lab’s screens as Afya Bora Medical Centre’s own lab uses them. Kila changes some steps of the visit for a laboratory; they are not described here until they can be walked on a demo business.
What is special
Link to this section: What is special- The lab’s worklist. Clinic › Lab lists the tests waiting for a sample, the samples to test and the results to check and release. Releasing a result is what lets the clinician read it: Enter and release lab results.
- The lab’s settings. Under Clinic office › Clinic settings: A critical result is released, after Ask who was told or Record who was told first; and the Sample labels, for a Label printer (50 x 25 mm) or an A4 sheet.
- Telling the patient. Tell lab-only patients when their results are ready, under Messages to patients: “Sent by SMS only to patients who agreed to messages. They never name a test, a result or a diagnosis.”
Not available yet
SMS is in test mode until a provider is connected: Kila records each message, and nothing reaches the patient’s phone yet. Call the patient when their results are ready.
