Your role
Area supervisor
You supervise the reps at a distributor, closing each van's day, deciding stock differences on the vans and following how the beats are covered.
As the area supervisor you look after the reps on the road. Kila describes the role as: “Supervises the reps in their depot: approves outlets from the road, reconciles van days, checks shelves and follows coverage. No prices or credit limits.” At Mombasa Road Distributors this is Esther Wambui.
When you sign in

Your day
Link to this section: Your day- Close the vans’ days. When a van is back and the store has counted it in, count the rep’s cash and close the day: Close a van day.
- Decide the differences. A van short when counted in waits in Approvals as a Van stock difference for someone other than the rep.
- Follow the beats. Distribution › Beats and coverage shows each beat’s visits against the plan: see Set reps’ beats and targets.

What needs a manager
Link to this section: What needs a managerNo approval limits: anything that needs approval goes to someone else.
Needs a manager
Prices and credit limits are not yours: orders over a customer’s credit go to the credit controller, the sales manager or the general manager.
Common questions
Link to this section: Common questionsCan the rep close their own van’s day? No: someone other than the rep counts the cash, and the count is theirs: I counted this cash and the count is mine. See Close a van day.
Where do I see a van’s difference? On your home page under Differences waiting for a decision, and in Approvals as a Van stock difference.
Who loads and counts the vans? The store. At Mombasa Road the count back in is blind: the store counts what is on the van and Kila compares it once it is sent.
