Step by step
Hand a job over and take payment
When the customer comes back, find their job by the ticket, check the release code, take what is due after any deposit, and hand the item over.
Steps differ for laundries and dry cleaners.
At a business that takes jobs in, the till opens on the job board’s Collect list: the jobs ready to hand over. You find the customer’s job, check that they are the one who left it, take what is due and hand it over. The payment goes into your shift like any sale.
Before you start
Link to this section: Before you start- Your shift is open on the till. See Close a shift for the end of it.
- The job is Ready: done and checked. See Tell the customer a job is ready.
Scan or type the ticket
On the till, Job board is open with Collect and the number of jobs ready, such as Collect (12). Scan the barcode on the customer’s collection ticket, or type the job number or their phone in “Scan or type the ticket, or the customer’s phone”.
Tap the job
Tap the job that comes up, marked Ready, or tap Collect with what is due, such as Collect · KES 1,950, on the list below.
Check what it comes to
Collect shows what the job is and whose it is, each line, the Total, and any Deposit paid taken off it. Old parts to offer back names the parts that were replaced: offer them to the customer.
Type the release code
When your business uses release codes, ask the customer for the code on their ticket and type it under Release code from the customer’s ticket. Without it, “No code: a manager hands it over.” With release codes off, there is no code to ask for.
Take the payment
To pay is what is left after the deposit. Choose Cash, M-Pesa, Card or Bank, or On account for a customer with credit. For cash, type the Cash received: Kila shows the change, such as Change KES 50.00.
Tap Collect and pay
Kila says Paid, for example “JOB-000104 collected and paid on S-… Deposit of KES 1,000.00 used. Change KES 50.00.” Hand the item over. The job moves to Collected, and its warranty starts: the board shows Warranty to the date.
You can also collect from the Front counter: tap Collect on a job under Ready to collect.
For your business

When the order was bagged to a rail or shelf slot, Collect shows where it is, such as On Rail B-14: “Fetch it from there.”
Steps differ for laundries and dry cleaners. Nothing here differs for your business, .
The release code does not match
Link to this section: The release code does not matchCheck the code on the ticket with the customer and type it again. Each wrong code is recorded. After five wrong codes the code stops working for that job, and only a manager hands it over, with a reason.
The customer has lost their ticket
Link to this section: The customer has lost their ticketNeeds a manager
A manager can hand the item over without the code. They see Without the code: why (a manager’s override, audited), check who is collecting, type the reason and take the payment. Kila keeps the reason with the job.
The customer pays by M-Pesa
Link to this section: The customer pays by M-PesaChoose M-Pesa and either Send a prompt to the customer’s phone or Enter the M-Pesa code from their message. A prompt waits for M-Pesa to confirm before the job is collected. Until Kila’s M-Pesa connection is live (Integrations and API says Prompts not connected), Kila sends no prompt and says “M-Pesa prompts are not connected to Safaricom yet”: enter the code instead. See Take M-Pesa.
- Take a deposit on a job: money taken ahead, which comes off here.
- Take back a job under warranty: when it comes back.
- Cashier: your day on the till.
