How it works

Your customer portal

Sign in to see your account with a business that uses Kila. What you owe, your receipts and statement, your agreements, bookings, orders and points, and your contact details.

Steps differ for fuel stations.

A business that uses Kila can give you a sign-in to its customer portal. There you see your own account with that business, on your phone or a computer: what you owe, your receipts and your statement. Only you see it.

  1. Open the business's address

The business gives you its address, such as mwangi-hardware.kilabiashara.co.ke. The page names the business: Sign in to Mwangi Hardware, and “Use the email and password Mwangi Hardware set up for you.”

Sign in to Mwangi Hardware: the business's name and address (1), the email (2) and the password (3) filled in, and the Sign in button (4).Sign in to Mwangi Hardware: the business's name and address (1), the email (2) and the password (3) filled in, and the Sign in button (4).
  2. Type your email and password

Use the email the business has for you and your password.

  3. Tap Sign in

Your portal opens on Home: “Karibu, Mary. Your account with Mwangi Hardware.”

Kila shows:

Not signed in.

That email and password do not match. Check them and try again.

Check the email and type the password again. The page says “Forgot it? Ask your business administrator to reset it: Kila emails you a link to choose a new one.” Ask the business that gave you the sign-in.

Kila shows:

This account does not have access to Dawa Bora Chemists. Sign in at your own business’s workspace address.

You are on another business’s address. Open the address of the business that gave you the sign-in.

  1. You owe: everything you owe the business, on your account and on agreements. Money the business holds for you shows as ”… held for you as credit.” With nothing owed, it says “Nothing owed. Everything accounted for.”
  2. Next instalment, when you have an agreement: the amount, when it is due and Pay with M-Pesa. See Pay an instalment by M-Pesa.
  3. Quick actions: Statement, Receipts, Book a service (when the business takes bookings) and My details.

Below them are your loyalty points, your Online orders, what is Coming up and your Recent purchases.

On a phone, the pages are along the bottom of the screen. More holds the rest.

The pages depend on what you do with the business: Agreements shows when it sells on hire purchase, layaway or credit, Bookings when it takes bookings, and Loyalty, Offers and Orders when it runs them.

“Every receipt, at every branch.” Search by receipt number, product or branch in Search receipts, and tap a purchase to see its receipt, with Print.

Purchases you paid for in full, in cash or by M-Pesa, are not on the statement: they are under Purchases.

“Book services and see your visits.” Your upcoming bookings, and those past or cancelled. See Book a service.

“Orders you placed on the online shop, and where they are now.” Open an order to follow it: Order received, Being packed, Ready for collection, Collected. Shop online opens the business’s online shop.

Loyalty shows your points, what they are worth and your tier, and every point earned and used. To use points, “Tell the cashier you want to use points; they come off the total.” Offers are “Offers you can use now. They apply by themselves at the till or at online checkout.”

Your contact details, “Used for receipts, reminders and deliveries”: change your Phone, Email or Delivery address and tap Save details. “To change your name, ID or KRA PIN, ask the branch.”

Send me offers by SMS and email is your choice, and you can change it any time: “Receipts and payment reminders are always sent.” Read the privacy notice opens the business’s privacy notice. “You can ask the business for a copy of the data it holds about you, to correct it, or to erase it. Ask at any branch; records the law requires, such as tax receipts, are kept.”

For fuel stations

Fleet accounts. A fuel station’s fleet customers use the same portal for their fleet account. Each fill is a receipt under Purchases, such as 40 × Diesel at the station, Statement lists every credit sale with its due date and every payment you made, and Home shows what the account owes.

Steps differ for fuel stations. Nothing here differs for your business, .

The portal takes M-Pesa payments for instalments on an agreement. Pay what you owe on your account to the business as you usually do: the payment shows on your Statement once the business records it.

The pages follow what the business does with you. Ask the business.

Good to know

The portal shows your account only. Nobody else’s purchases, statement or details are ever in it.
