Take more than one payment on a sale

When a customer pays part in cash and the rest by M-Pesa, or any other mix, split the payment. Each part is taken on its own, and all of them belong to one sale and one receipt.

  1. Tap Charge, then Split payment

Under the amount due, Kila asks “Paying part one way and the rest another, such as cash and M-Pesa?”.

Take payment for KES 1,280.00, with Split payment marked 1 under the question Paying part one way and the rest another, such as cash and M-Pesa?Take payment for KES 1,280.00, with Split payment marked 1 under the question Paying part one way and the rest another, such as cash and M-Pesa?
  2. Enter how much this payment covers

Type it in This payment, or tap Half (such as Half KES 640.00).

  3. Choose how it is paid and take it

Tap the method, such as Cash, and take it as usual: for cash, type the Cash received and tap Take cash. The payment is listed and Kila shows what is Still to pay.

  4. Take the rest

The next is Payment 2 of the split. Leave This payment empty, or tap The rest, so it covers what is left. Choose the method and take it: for M-Pesa, check the customer‘s message, type the M-Pesa code and tap Use code.

Payment 2 of the split: KES 780.00 still to pay (4) after KES 500.00 in cash, M-Pesa chosen with the code and the amount received of KES 780, and Use code (5).Payment 2 of the split: KES 780.00 still to pay (4) after KES 500.00 in cash, M-Pesa chosen with the code and the amount received of KES 780, and Use code (5).
  5. Hand over the receipt

When the payments cover the total, Kila completes the sale by itself: Sale S-… complete, “Paid in full by cash and M-Pesa.”

Tip

To take a payment off before the sale is complete, tap the × beside it. What is still to pay goes back up.

Kila shows:
That is more than is left to pay, so this payment takes KES 1,280.00.

Kila never takes more than is left. Check the amount, or carry on: the payment covers the rest.

Kila shows:

Give KES 200.00 change for the cash part

The customer gave KES 500 for a KES 300 part. Give the change now: only the part counts toward the sale.

If you clear the cart after taking part of the money, Kila stops you first:

Kila shows:

KES 300.00 is already paid toward this sale

Finish the payment, or keep the money as credit or give it back before you clear the cart.
  • Keep it as the customer’s credit needs a customer on the sale. Without one, Kila says “Add the customer to the sale to keep it as their credit.”
  • Give it back: Kila says how, such as “Hand back KES 300.00 in cash.” Hand it back, tick I have given back KES 300.00 and tap Given back, clear the cart.
  • Back to the payment to finish it instead.

Next: tap New sale for the next customer.
