Step by step
Sell meat by amount
When a customer asks for "nyama ya mia mbili", type the amount, cut to the weight Kila shows, and the line is exactly the amount asked for.
Many customers ask for meat by the money, not the kilo: “nyama ya mia mbili”, KES 200 of meat. Kila works out how much to cut at the price per kg, and records the line at exactly the amount asked for.
Tap the cut
Search for it or tap it on the till, such as Beef mince. Weigh opens, as for any cut sold by weight.
Tap By amount
Weigh has By weight and By amount. With By amount it says Type the amount the customer asks for and cut to the weight shown.
Type the amount
Under Amount the customer asks for, type it, such as 200. Kila shows the weight to cut at the price per kg: Cut 0.236 kg (plus the 0.010 kg container). The button now says Add for KES 200.00.
Steps 2 and 3 on one screen. Cut, weigh and enter the weight on the scale
Cut to about that weight and put it on the scale. The weight is optional here: type what the scale shows, or let it come from the scale. Kila says what it comes to, such as 0.236 kg on the scale is KES 200.60: within a gram’s worth of KES 200, so it is close enough.
Steps 4 and 5 on one screen. Tap Add for KES 200.00
The line goes into the cart at the weight on the scale, for the amount.
Check the line in the cart
The line shows the weight on the scale and the price per kg, 0.236 kg × KES 850.00/kg, with the cents over the amount taken off, KES 0.60 off. The line is KES 200.00, never more than the customer asked for.
Then take the payment as for any sale.
Too much or not enough on the scale
Link to this section: Too much or not enough on the scaleTake a little off, or add a little when Kila says Not enough on the scale: add a little, until the message goes. If you tap Add for KES 200.00 anyway, Kila records the weight worked out for the amount, here 0.236 kg, and not the weight on the scale.
You do not weigh it
Link to this section: You do not weigh itThe weight on the scale is optional. With no weight typed, Add for KES 200.00 puts the line in at the weight worked out for the amount: KES 200 of pork on the bone at KES 650.00 a kg goes in as 0.308 kg for KES 200.00.
There is no By amount
Link to this section: There is no By amountYour business has selling by amount switched off. The owner switches it on under Administration › Till and returns rules, in Selling by amount: Offer By amount when weighing.
- Sell meat by weight: weigh first, and Kila prices it.
- Selling by weight: the rules, including selling by amount and rounding.
- Change quantities and sell by weight: quantities and weights on any till.
Next: take the payment, then close your shift at the end of the day.
