Step by step
Sign up your business
Create your business's own Kila workspace in a few minutes, with a 14-day free trial and no card needed. Kila signs you in as the owner and opens your set-up checklist.
The owner signs the business up once. Kila prepares a workspace for your kind of business, with your first branch and a till ready, and signs you in.
Before you start
Link to this section: Before you start- The business’s name, the town and a name for your first branch, such as the area it is in.
- The email you will sign in with, and a Kenyan mobile number.
Choose a plan
Open kilabiashara.co.ke/signup, or tap Start free trial on Kila’s sign-in page. Under Your plan, Starter is chosen to start with: KES 2,500 / month. Business is KES 7,500 / month and Growth is KES 14,500 / month. “You can change plan at any time”: Kila changes it when you ask, see Change your plan. Whichever you choose is free for 14 days, and no card is needed to start.
Type the business name
In Business name, type the name your customers know.
Check your workspace address
Kila suggests the Workspace address from the name, such as nuru-general-store, and checks it is free: …is available. Your team opens Kila there, so keep it short. In Kila it ends in
.kilabiashara.co.ke:nuru-general-store.kilabiashara.co.ke. The pictures come from a test copy of Kila, where it ends in.localhost:5610.Say how you mostly get paid
Answer How do you mostly get paid?, for example Scan and sell at the counter (Shop). “Kila starts you on the screens that fit. You can add more later.” See What Kila is for every answer.
Choose the type of business, first branch and town
Choose your Type of business, such as General retail under Retail, and type the First branch name and the Town or city. Kila shows what it sets your business up as, such as Shop: “Scan and sell at the counter”.
Tick what else the business does
Under Does your business also…, tick anything that applies, such as Sells alcohol. Each one switches on the controls the law expects. Leave them all clear if none applies.
Fill in your details
Under You, the owner, type your Full name, Phone (“For example 0712 345 678.”), Email (“You sign in with this.”) and a Password of at least 10 characters.

Kila creates the workspace, signs you in at its address and opens Set up Nuru General Store: “12 steps to get going. Each one Kila can see ticks itself off when the work is done.” It also says when your free trial ends: “Everything you set up stays when you subscribe.”
