Step by step
Move cash during a shift
Record cash paid out of the drawer, paid into it or dropped to the safe, with the amount and a reason, so the count at the close still balances.
Cash sometimes leaves the drawer for something other than a sale: transport for a delivery, a supplier paid in cash, a drop to the safe. Record each one on your shift as it happens. Kila takes it into account in the cash it expects, so your count at the close still balances.
Open the shift panel
At the top of the till, tap your shift number, or open the menu under your name and choose Shift and cash.
Tap Move cash
It is at the foot of the shift panel, next to Hand over and Close shift.
Choose the kind of move
Paid out for cash that leaves the drawer, Paid in for cash put into it, Drop to safe for cash taken to the safe. For a paid out, also choose what it is for: An expense, Pay a supplier or Owner took out.
Steps 3 to 6 on one screen. Type the amount
The amount in shillings, such as 300.
Give the reason
Kila asks for one every time: “Every shilling in or out of the drawer needs a reason. It goes on the shift record.” For example: transport for a delivery, KES 300.
Tap Record
The button names the move: Record paid out, Record paid in or Record cash drop. Kila confirms it, such as Paid out KES 300.00 recorded, and the shift panel lists it under Cash movements with the reason, the time and your name. Cash expected now goes down for cash out and up for cash in.
Good to know
At the close, the cash-up shows each kind of move on its own line: Paid in, Paid out and Cash drops to the safe. See How shifts and cash-ups work.
Record stays grey

Kila says the money is for a supplier
Link to this section: Kila says the money is for a supplierA reason that names one of your suppliers is not recorded as an expense:
Kila switches to Pay a supplier and chooses that supplier under Supplier: “Comes off what the business owes them, oldest invoice first.” Check the amount and tap Record paid out. Kila confirms, such as Supplier paid KES 200.00 recorded.
- Close a shift: count the drawer at the end of your shift.
- Print an X reading: your shift so far on paper, cash moves included.
- How shifts and cash-ups work: what Kila expects in the drawer.
Next: carry on selling. At the end, close your shift.
