Step by step
Sell on credit
A customer with a credit limit can pay On account. Kila checks their credit left and records an invoice they pay later, within their payment terms.
Steps differ for agrovets.
Customers your business trusts, such as a company that buys every month, can take goods now and pay later. At the till that is On account: Kila checks they have credit left and adds the sale to what they owe.
Before you start
Link to this section: Before you start- The customer has a credit limit on their record: see Set a credit limit and payment terms.
Add the customer to the sale
Tap Add a customer (optional), search by name, phone or number and choose them. The cart shows their Credit left.
Tap Charge, then On account
The On account tile shows how much credit they have left.
Check the credit left
Kila says it again in full: “Kilimani Serviced Apartments Ltd has KES … of credit left.” The Amount is the amount due.
Tap Take on account
Kila completes the sale. The receipt shows On account where a payment method would be.
What Kila records
Link to this section: What Kila recordsThe amount goes on the customer‘s account as an invoice, due after their payment terms. Their page in Customers lists it under Open invoices (“Payments settle the oldest invoice first.”), Within terms until it is due. The Credit account shows what is used and what is left, with the terms: “KES … left. Terms: 30 days.”
Who can set a credit limit
Link to this section: Who can set a credit limitA cashier takes On account for customers who have a limit, but cannot set one: the cashier’s form says You can set up to KES 0. The Credit limit is on the customer‘s record, under Credit account, and each person can set it up to their own limit, such as You can set up to KES 250,000. for a credit officer. Above that, Kila does not save it: “A credit limit of KES 150,000.00 is above your limit of KES 100,000.00. Ask a credit officer to set it.”
Needs a manager
Ask a credit officer, a manager or the owner to set or raise a customer‘s limit. See Set a credit limit and payment terms.

The sale is more than their credit left
Link to this section: The sale is more than their credit leftKila takes no more than the credit left on account. For example, “Wambui Mutiso has KES 20,000.00 of credit left.” and the Amount starts at KES 20,000. Tap Take on account: Kila shows Still to pay for the rest, to take by cash, M-Pesa, card or bank transfer. Where your business does not split payments, Kila says “This covers KES … of KES …. Split payments are off, so choose another method.”
There is no On account
Link to this section: There is no On accountThe customer on the sale has no credit limit, or there is no customer on it. Take another method, or ask for a limit to be set. When On account is there but greyed out, Kila says why, such as ”… has no credit left.”
