Reconciliation

Money a business is told it received is not always money it received. Reconciliation compares the M-Pesa, card, bank transfer and cheque payments Kila recorded with what the M-Pesa and bank statements say arrived, and puts every difference on a short list for a person to decide. A payment the till could not confirm is confirmed, or closed, only on the statement’s evidence.

• Money › Reconciliation: “Match what the M-Pesa and bank statements say against what Kila recorded. Money is confirmed by evidence, never by assumption.” Its tabs are Overview, M-Pesa statement, Bank statement, Not confirmed yet, Exceptions and Shifts.
• Money › Cash: the cash in the tills and the safe, and on its way to the bank. It starts off: “Cash management is off. Switch on to track the safe, drops and banking.”
