Work the kitchen display

Tickets arrive on the kitchen display as waiters send rounds. Start each one, bump it when it is ready, and the waiter's phone says Food ready.

The kitchen display is a dark, full screen for a tablet or a screen in the kitchen or at the bar. Each round a waiter sends arrives as a ticket for the station that makes it, oldest first. Cooks sign in and land on it.

  1. Choose your station

At the top, tap your station, such as Kitchen, Grill or Bar, or All stations to see everything.

The All day list is on the right.
  2. Tap Start when you start the ticket

Each ticket shows the table, the course, the station and its number, such as STARTERS · Kitchen · #102, and the minutes since it came in. Choices show under the item, notes in quotes, and allergens in red, such as ALLERGENS: Gluten. Tap Start: the button becomes Ready.

  3. Bump each item as it is done

Tap an item to bump it on its own: it is struck through. When every item is done, or you tap Ready, the ticket is ready and the waiter’s phone shows Food ready for that table.

  4. Tap Served when it leaves the pass

    The ticket leaves the screen.

  • Recall brings back the last ticket you marked served by mistake. Kila says, for example, Terrace 5 (Bill 98) #102 recalled.
  • All day, on the right, adds up everything still to make. Tap 86 beside a dish to switch it off for today: “Waiters see it greyed on their phones.”
  • Pass shows each table’s tickets together. When they are all ready, it says All ready: the waiter is told.
  • On a keyboard or bump bar: “Keys 1 to 9 move a ticket on; 0 recalls the last one.”

When your business holds courses, a later course arrives greyed with HELD. It is fired by the waiter, at the till, or here with its button, such as Fire mains. Kila says Mains fired. See Hold and fire courses.

Good to know

A ticket turns amber when it passes the kitchen’s target time and red at twice it. The owner sets the target under Kitchen and floor › Food & drink settings, as Kitchen target (minutes): 15 at Jikoni Grill and Cafe. “A ticket turns amber at this time and red at twice it; a station may set its own.”
