Move to a closer kind of business

When most of your work has become one kind, such as counter sales or appointments, Kila suggests the kind of business built for it. See what changes, then move: nothing is deleted, and you can move back.

Kila looks at the last 30 days of a General business’s work. Once there are at least 20 records and 60% or more of them are one kind, such as sales at the counter or appointments, it suggests the kind of business built around that work, with its own main screen and set-up. Here Mwanga Enterprises, whose work has all been counter sales, moves to Shop.

  • You are the owner: only an owner moves the business.
  • Moving is safe to try. Kila shows what changes first, deletes nothing, and the same steps take you back.
  1. Read the suggestion on your home page

The card Does another profile fit you better? says what most of your work is and what fits it, such as “Most of your work in the last 30 days is sales at the counter (100%). The Shop profile may suit you better.” Under it: “Its main screen: Till (scan and sell). Your records stay; you see what changes before you switch.” Business profile shows the same suggestion as Another profile may fit you better.

Halima Juma's home page: Does another profile fit you better? says Most of your work in the last 30 days is sales at the counter (100%). The Shop profile may suit you better (1), with See Shop (2), Not now and the share sales at the counter 100%.Halima Juma's home page: Does another profile fit you better? says Most of your work in the last 30 days is sales at the counter (100%). The Shop profile may suit you better (1), with See Shop (2), Not now and the share sales at the counter 100%.
  2. Tap See Shop

The button names the kind of business suggested. Business profile opens with Change the business profile: “Choose how this business works. Modules that leave stop showing; their records are kept and come back if you switch them on again.”

  3. Check the profile

Profile is already the one suggested, with what it is built for under it: Shop, “Scan and sell at the counter”. You can choose another. General (fits your type) is the profile that goes with General / Other.

  4. Check what changes

Will appear lists the modules the new profile gives you, and Will stop showing the ones it does not use. For Mwanga Enterprises on Shop: Warehouse, Loyalty, Layaway, Hire purchase, Delivery, Supplier portal and Online store appear, and the Compliance calendar stops showing. A module your plan does not have, such as Hire purchase on Growth, then says Upgrade to use under Modules.

  5. Keep the profile's starting settings

Apply the profile’s starting settings is ticked. It sets the new profile’s way of working, and lists the settings it changes: “You can change any of them afterwards in Settings.” A shop’s tills, for example, ask for a shift before they sell.

Change the business profile with Shop chosen (3), Will appear listing Warehouse, Loyalty, Layaway, Hire purchase, Delivery, Supplier portal and Online store (4), Will stop showing the Compliance calendar, Apply the profile's starting settings ticked (5) and the Change profile button (6).Change the business profile with Shop chosen (3), Will appear listing Warehouse, Loyalty, Layaway, Hire purchase, Delivery, Supplier portal and Online store (4), Will stop showing the Compliance calendar, Apply the profile's starting settings ticked (5) and the Change profile button (6).
  6. Tap Change profile

Kila says Profile set to Shop: “Nothing was deleted. The change is in the audit log.” It also adds the new kind of business’s own roles under Users and roles: for a shop, Till supervisor and Merchandiser.

  7. Check your business profile

The top of Business profile names your new profile: Shop, “Scan and sell at the counter”. Your Type of business stays General / Other, so Kila adds: “General / Other usually runs on the General profile: A curated start: add what you need.” What your business does and the suggestion leave with General.

Business profile after the move: Shop, Scan and sell at the counter (7), with Type of business General / Other, Main screen Till (scan and sell), and the note General / Other usually runs on the General profile, with See General.Business profile after the move: Shop, Scan and sell at the counter (7), with Type of business General / Other, Main screen Till (scan and sell), and the note General / Other usually runs on the General profile, with See General.

The starting settings of a shop include a shift before selling, so the till asks to Open your shift first. To sell without one, the owner switches off Cashiers open a shift before selling in Business settings, on the Point of sale tab. See Open a shift.

Tap See General on Business profile, or Change profile and choose General (fits your type): “A curated start: add what you need.” Then tap Change profile. Kila says Profile set to General, and the till sells without a shift again. The roles the move added stay, because people may hold them.

Change the business profile on the way back: Profile General (fits your type) (1), and the Change profile button (2).Change the business profile on the way back: Profile General (fits your type) (1), and the Change profile button (2).

Tap Not now on the card. Kila says Put away: “We will not suggest it again for 90 days.” You can still move any time with Change profile on Business profile.

Kila shows:
After 20 records Kila tells you whether another profile fits your business better.

Kila needs 20 records in 30 days first, and one kind of work at 60% or more of them. You do not need a suggestion to move: tap Change profile on Business profile and choose the profile yourself.

Needs a manager

Only an owner moves the business or puts the suggestion away. Anyone else who opens Business profile sees “Only an owner can change the business profile. You can see it here.”

Next: finish the new profile’s set-up list under Setup: Your set-up checklist.
