Your role
Chair renter
You are a self-employed stylist renting a chair. You see your own day, bookings and client notes, and what is held for you after your rent. Nobody else's clients, takings or prices.
As a chair renter you work for yourself in someone else’s salon or spa: you pay rent for your chair, and what your clients pay at the till is held for you. Kila describes the role as “A self-employed stylist renting a chair: their own column, bookings and client notes. No other clients’ cards, takings or prices.”

- Settling. The salon manager or the owner settles with you: what is held, less your rent owing and the salon’s fee if it takes one, is paid out to you by cash, M-Pesa or bank transfer: Rent a chair to a stylist.

Common questions
Link to this section: Common questionsWhy does My day say I would be paid KES 0? Your rent owing is as much as what is held for you, or more. When you are settled, the takings go to your rent first.
Can I see the salon’s other clients? No. You see your own clients and bookings only.
