Your role

Head teacher

Your day as head teacher in Kila, from School today across every class to signing off report cards, and what stays with the owner.

As head teacher you see the whole school in Kila: every class’s register, the learners away today, the open exams, the fees coming in and the staff. Signing off report cards before they go to guardians is part of your role.

Kila opens School today. Across the top are Registers taken, Present, Away 3 days or more and Fees in today. Below them:

  • Registers lists every class with its class teacher, the number absent, and whether the register is taken.
  • Absent today names each learner marked absent and their class.
  • Marks shows the open exams and the teachers still entering marks.
  • Report cards to sign lists the classes whose cards the class teacher has signed.

The head teacher’s role is built on the general manager’s, so it approves most requests itself, up to these limits. Anything above a limit goes to someone whose limit covers it, such as the owner. Staff ID, KRA and pay details are not in the role: they stay with the owner.

Can the deputy head sign off report cards? Not with the role as Kila sets it up: signing off report cards is in the head teacher’s role and not in the deputy head’s. The owner can change a role in Roles and permissions.

Where do I see who has been away for days? Away 3 days or more on School today counts them, and Absent today lists everyone marked absent with their class.

Do I take fees myself? You can, but the fees office usually does: see Take fees at the counter. Fees in today on School today shows what came in today and how much of the term is collected.
