Your role
Boarding master or matron
Your day as boarding master or matron in Kila, from the dormitory roll calls to passes, leave-outs and exeats, and the sick bay.
As boarding master or matron you look after the boarders: the dormitories and beds, the morning and evening roll calls, leave-outs and exeats, the sick bay, and messages to boarders’ guardians.
When you sign in
Link to this section: When you sign inKila opens My day. Registers and roll calls lists the morning and evening roll call of each dormitory you look after, and the bus runs. A roll call still to take is marked Take it; one taken shows Taken, or how many are absent. Below, a card counts the learners out on passes and opens the gate’s list.

Common questions
Link to this section: Common questionsWhy do the bus runs show on my My day? My day shows the houses you are matron of, and the buses for those who take bus rolls, which your role can. The transport officer usually takes them: see Transport officer.
A parent phoned to ask for a leave-out. Can I approve it myself? Yes. A pass you make is approved as you save it, and the gate sees it under Passes. Kila does not make a second pass for a learner who already has one waiting.
A boarder is out on a pass. Do I mark them absent? No. On the roll call they show as out on the pass, and start as Excused. See Take a roll call.
