Your role

Floor supervisor

Run the floor during service and close it at night. Move bills between waiters, fire courses, approve discounts within your limit, and clear each waiter once nothing of theirs is open.

The floor supervisor runs the floor while it serves and closes it at night. Kila describes the role: “Runs the floor: moves and hands over bills between waiters, fires courses, keeps the reservation book, the 86 list, the briefing and the log, clears waiters at the end of their shift, approves discounts and removals within limits, reviews shifts. No settings or refunds approval.”

Kila opens the home page, with the floor on its cards: Open bills now, their value and the oldest, Bills by waiter (1) and The kitchen now: waiting, held, late. Your pages are in the menu under Kitchen and floor, among them Floor, Host stand, Log and briefing, Waiter clearance, End of day and Comps.

  1. During service, keep an eye on the floor from Floor and the cards on your home page.
  2. Move bills between waiters when a table moves or a waiter goes home: open the bill on Kila Floor and use Move table or Give to a waiter. See Split, move or merge a bill.
  3. Fire courses when a table is ready for the next one: see Hold and fire courses.
  4. At closing, clear each waiter in Waiter clearance: “Each waiter’s day: bills to hand over, what they sold and how it was paid, tips. Clear them when nothing is open.”
  5. In the morning, read last night in End of day. Steps 4 and 5 are in Close the night and check last night.
  • Move, merge or give any waiter’s bills, not only your own.
  • Hand over a waiter’s open bills and clear the waiter at the end of their shift.
  • Open the host stand and the reservation book.
  • Read the comps, and last night on End of day.

Needs a manager

  • A discount above your limit goes for approval to someone whose limit covers it.
  • A refund waits for approval: your refund limit is KES 0.00.
  • The business’s settings are not part of the role.

A waiter is going home with a table still open. In Waiter clearance, tap Hand over on their row and choose who takes their bills on. Then clear them.

Why can a waiter not move another waiter’s bill? Only the waiter whose bill it is, or a floor supervisor, moves, merges, splits or gives it.

Where do I see last night? In Kitchen and floor › End of day, tap Last night.
