Your role

Practice administrator or receptionist

The receptionist keeps the registry of post and files in and out, records new clients and their identification, and sends client requests.

Kila describes the role as: “Receives clients and documents: keeps the registry and the files, records new clients and their identification, and sends client requests.” At Mizani Associates it is Lucy Wambui, at the front desk.

Kila opens the Registry: “What comes in and goes out, numbered and passed on, and where each file is.” Each item is numbered by year, such as IN-2026-0005, with who it is from, what it is, the engagement it belongs to, and who it was passed to by when.

Lucy Wambui's Registry at Mizani Associates: Log received (1) and Log dispatch at the top, the tabs Received, Dispatched, Files and To action (2), and the received items, such as a KRA demand notice passed to Kevin Ochieng.Lucy Wambui's Registry at Mizani Associates: Log received (1) and Log dispatch at the top, the tabs Received, Dispatched, Files and To action (2), and the received items, such as a KRA demand notice passed to Kevin Ochieng.

Needs a manager

You are not on the firm’s team, so you do not log time. The Timesheets tab says so: “You are not on the team yet. Ask a manager to add you under Team so you can log time.”

A letter needs a partner’s answer. What do I do? Log it with Log received, choose the partner under Pass to and the date under Action by.

Where do I see what still waits? On the To action tab of the Registry.

Where are the firm’s deadlines? Under Practice › Deadlines.
