A pharmacy closes like any shop, with two more things to see to: the medicines need a pharmacist until the last sale, and the pharmacist signs off when they leave. The branch’s closing checks are ready in Branch operations, which Kila’s menu lists under Customers and services.

  1. Open the closing checks

Open Branch operations. Today shows your branch, its trading day and its hours, such as “opens 07:30, closes 21:00”, and under Opening and closing: “Ready before opening and at the closing warning; whatever is left is reported after closing.” Tap Closing checks.

  2. Close the tills first

Each till’s shift is counted and closed, as on any day: Close a shift. One of the checks is Tills closed and counted.

  3. Answer each check

The checklist asks: Cash dropped and the safe locked, Tills closed and counted, Lights and appliances off (fridges left on), Back door and store locked, Alarm set, and an optional Photo of the locked front: “The shutter and padlock, not people.” Tap Yes or No for each. “Answers save as you go.”

  4. Tap Complete

    Kila says Done.

  5. Check it is done

The checklist now reads “done by” your name and the time, such as “done by Kevin Mwangi at 20:31”.

  6. The pharmacist signs off

The pharmacist on duty signs off under Pharmacy › On duty, refills and owings: “Dr. Brian Otieno is off duty.” The branch shows Nobody on duty, and the tills there refuse the medicines that need a pharmacist until a pharmacist is on duty again: Sign on duty.

Good to know

The closing checks photograph things, never people: “Photograph the equipment, the shelf or the lock, never staff or customers.” Controlled drugs are not part of the close: their balance is kept all day, see Count controlled drugs.

Complete says there is still something to do

Link to this section: Complete says there is still something to do
Kila shows:
Still to do: Cash dropped and the safe locked; Tills closed and counted; Lights and appliances off (fridges left on); Back door and store locked; Alarm set.

Every check that is not marked optional needs an answer, even if the answer is No. Answer the ones listed and tap Complete again.

Kila reports whatever is left after closing. Do the checks before you leave.

Next: in the morning, the pharmacist signs on before the first medicine is sold: Sign on duty.
