Step by step
Plan a production order
Choose what to make, at which site and how many. Kila checks the recipe's materials against the stock there and reserves them for the order.
Steps differ for food processors and food producers and farms.
A production order is one run of one product: what to make, where, and how many. Planning it checks the recipe’s materials against the stock at the site and reserves them, so no other order takes them before they are issued.
Before you start
Link to this section: Before you start- The product needs a recipe or parts list. Only those products are offered: see Set up a recipe or parts list.
Open Production orders and tap Plan an order
The page shows your orders in three columns: Planned, In production and Done. Tap Plan an order, or press N. Kila opens Plan a production order.
Choose the product and the site
Product to make lists every product with a recipe, with its SKU. Under Site, choose where it is made.
Steps 2 to 5 on one screen. Type how many to make
Type the Quantity. Kila says what one batch of the recipe makes, such as The recipe makes 1,000 pc a batch. You can also give a Due date and a Line. Leave the line on From the routing to use the line the recipe runs on.
Check the materials
Under Materials, Kila lists what the quantity needs, what is Free here at the site, and Enough or how much is short for each. Above the list it says how many good units to expect after the recipe’s usual scrap, and the standard cost of each, such as About 490 good pc expected, at a standard KES 38.08 each.
Tap Plan and reserve
Kila plans the order, reserves its materials and says so, such as PRD-000091 planned and its materials reserved.
Read the order
The order opens. It is Planned, materials reserved, and the Reserved column shows each material set aside for it. The order is ready for the materials to be issued.

Batches held for QC. The order’s Quality card says The batch will be held for QC release when the order closes. A food business holds every finished batch until QA releases it; the owner can change this under Hold finished batches for QC release in the production settings.
For farms
Harvests and births. On Cost centres, Harvest on a field or herd opens this dialog with the field or herd under Cost centre: “A harvest or births from a field or herd take its inputs into their cost.” The products offered are still only those with a recipe. See Follow a field or herd’s costs.
Steps differ for food processors and food producers and farms. Nothing here differs for your business, .
Not enough materials
Link to this section: Not enough materialsThe materials list shows what is short, such as 795 short for foil lids. The button becomes Plan without materials: the order is planned as Planned, materials short and Kila says what is missing, such as “Foil lid 95mm, 500ml cup: 205 free, 1,000 pc needed. Bring them in, then reserve.” When the materials arrive, open the order and tap Reserve materials.
A business can choose not to plan such orders at all: under When materials are short, the owner chooses Refuse the order instead of Plan it, reserve later. Kila then says:
You planned the wrong thing
Link to this section: You planned the wrong thingOpen the order and tap Cancel order. Kila asks Cancel PRD-000091?: “Reserved materials go back to stock.” Only a planned order can be cancelled. Once its materials are issued, record what was made and close it instead.
The product is not in the list
Link to this section: The product is not in the listProduct to make offers only products with a recipe or parts list. Add one under Recipes first, on the same page.
Needs a manager
Planning needs the right to plan production, which the plant manager, production supervisor and farm manager have. The owner chooses Refuse the order or Plan it, reserve later in the production settings.
