Book a trip

A trip is any booking that is not a parcel or a hire: a load of cargo, a truck hired with its driver, a transfer. You choose the kinds your business takes in its settings, and each rate prices one kind.

Steps

1. Tap New booking

   Open Sell › Bookings and dispatch and tap New booking.

2. Choose the kind

   Choose the Kind, such as Cargo or Truck hire with driver.

3. Choose the customer

   Under Customer, find the business you carry for: “An account customer is billed to their account.” For someone paying on the spot, leave it empty and type the Contact name and Contact phone.

4. Fill in the route

   Type the Pick up and Drop off, and When it goes. When your business proves deliveries with a code, add the Receiver: the receiver “Gets the delivery code.” and “The code goes by SMS; missing, to the contact phone.”

5. Choose the rate

   Choose the Rate. A rate per kg asks for the Kgs, a rate per day for the Days, and Kila shows the charge: “The rate gives KES 18,000.00.” for two tonnes at KES 9 a kg.

6. Choose the vehicle and driver

   Choose the Vehicle: Kila fills in its usual Driver. Leave both empty to assign them later from the board.

7. Tap Book

   The footer shows the Charge. Tap Book: the trip waits on the board under To dispatch.

   Kila shows:

   Booked

   Cargo BKG-000555 booked. Delivery code 8167 sent to the receiver (sms); SMS is in test mode, so read it to them too.

Not available yet

SMS is in test mode: the delivery code is in Kila’s message log, but no SMS reaches the receiver until an SMS provider is connected. Read the code to the receiver, or to the customer to pass on.

What if

The charge cannot be changed

“Changing it needs the price override permission.” The rate sets the price; a manager or the owner can change it. For a one-off price, choose No rate: enter the charge in Rate and type it in Charge.

The card says To bill

The trip is not billed yet. An account customer’s trip is billed when it is delivered, or on the monthly invoice, as your business has chosen. See Bill account customers.
