Step by step
Set up practitioners and their registrations
Record who sees patients, their cadre, clinical access and professional registration, and keep their practising licences current.
A practitioner is anyone who sees patients: a doctor, a clinical officer, a nurse, a dentist, the lab. Kila keeps each one’s cadre, their clinical access and their professional registration, links them to the person who signs in, and reminds you before their practising licence runs out.
Open Practitioners and rooms
The list shows each practitioner’s name, cadre and registration, such as KMPDC A8840. A registration not recorded yet says Not recorded. Add adds a new one; tap a practitioner to change theirs.
Steps 1 and 2. Tap Add, or the practitioner
For a new one, give their Name and Branch.
Fill in who they are
Choose who they Sign in as (the team member they are), their Cadre (such as Medical officer, Nurse or Lab technologist) and their Clinical access: Practitioner, Nurse, Laboratory or Not clinical. Then the Registration body (KMPDC, NCK, KMLTTB and the others) and the Registration number.
Steps 3 to 5. Record when the practising licence expires
In Practising licence expires, type the date on their current licence. When they renew it, change the date here.
Tap Save
Kila says Practitioner saved.
How Kila uses it
Link to this section: How Kila uses it- Clinical access. A practitioner signs in as the team member linked here; their clinical access follows their group and the patients they see. See Clinical privacy.
- Prescriptions and claims. The prescriber’s registration goes with their prescriptions, and the claims check passes Clinician’s registration number only when it is recorded.
- Licence reminders. Each practising licence goes on the compliance calendar with its date, such as Dr. Njeri Kamau’s practising licence (KMPDC A8840), kept from Visits, Practitioners, and you are reminded before it expires.
The law says
A practitioner practises only while registered and licensed by their professional council or board: the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) for doctors and dentists, the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) for nurses, the Clinical Officers Council (COC) for clinical officers and the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) for laboratory staff. Kila records the number and the date you give it and reminds you before the date; it does not check them with the regulator.
Consultation rooms
Link to this section: Consultation roomsUnder Consultation rooms, Add a room adds one to a branch (Add a consultation room). The desk chooses the room when it adds a patient to the queue, and it can be changed on the visit.
- Clinical privacy: who reads what, by clinical access.
- Claim from insurers, SHA and schemes: the registration a claim needs.
