Record a sick bay visit

Record who came to the sick bay, the complaint, what was given and what happened next. Guardians are told only that the child was seen.

Who can do it
School nurse, Boarding master or matron and Head teacher
Find it
School life, then Sick bay, or search sick bay in Kila
Time
2 minutes

The sick bay keeps each visit: the complaint, the temperature, the treatment and medication, and the outcome. These are children’s health records: “Restricted: only the nurse, the matron and the head see these.” When a child is sent home or referred, the guardian gets a text that the child was seen and to call the school, never the complaint.

SMS is in test mode until an SMS provider is connected: messages are kept in the message log and not delivered to phones. Call the guardian when a child goes home.

  1. Open the sick bay

Choose School life › Sick bay, or the Sick bay card on My day. It lists this week’s visits.

  2. Tap New visit and find the learner

Tap New visit, type the admission number or name and tap the learner. Then type the Complaint.

  3. Choose the outcome

Back to class, Resting in the sick bay, Sent home or Referred. Add the Temperature (°C) if you took it.

  4. Write what you gave

    Under Treatment and Medication given.

  5. Tap Record

Kila says Visit recorded, and the visit heads the list.

  6. Change the outcome when it changes

A child resting may go back to class, or home. Choose the new Outcome on their row.

This week's visits: the outcome changed to Sent home (6) and the Guardian column saying Told with the time (7).This week's visits: the outcome changed to Sent home (6) and the Guardian column saying Told with the time (7).

The Guardian column says Not needed while the child stays at school, and Told with the time once Kila has sent the guardian the text. The head’s School today shows the day’s visits with their outcome, never the complaint.

“Ask an administrator for access if you need it.” Only the nurse, the matron and the head see the sick bay; teachers do not.

New visit finds a learner by name, admission number, or a guardian’s name or phone, and offers only learners still at the school. Check the spelling, or try the admission number.

Next: call the guardian of a child sent home or referred.
