How it works
Kila Floor, the waiter's phone
Waiters and bartenders work on their own phones in Kila Floor, the outlet's tables with their bills, what the kitchen has ready and their own shift, with no till of their own.
Steps differ for bars and lounges.
When a waiter or a bartender signs in, Kila opens Kila Floor: the outlet’s tables, their own bills and what the kitchen and the bar have ready for them. They seat customers, send rounds and print the bill from their phone. They need no till of their own: the cashier settles the bill at the till, or the customer pays by M-Pesa at the table.
What the screen shows
Link to this section: What the screen shows- Food ready at the top: what the kitchen and the bar have finished for your tables. Tap it to see what to take where.
- Mine and Everyone: your own tables first, with the free ones to seat customers at, or the whole floor.
- Each table: a free table shows its seats; a table in use shows its bill‘s total, how many customers and how many minutes they have been there, and where its order is.
- My shift: your bills still open, what you sold and your tips.
The first time you open the floor each day, Today’s briefing sits at the top: the manager’s notes, what is off today, what is running low and the bookings. Close it once you have read it. At the bottom, New bill, Takeaway and Delivery open a bill that is not at a table.
Where each table is
Link to this section: Where each table isA table in use shows a label for where its order is:
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| In the kitchen | A round is with the kitchen or the bar. |
| Food ready | Something is waiting at the pass for this table. |
| Course held | Everything sent has gone out, and a later course waits to be fired. See Hold and fire courses. |
| Bill printed | The bill is with the customers, and the table waits to pay. |
Food ready at the pass
Link to this section: Food ready at the passTap Food ready at the top. Kila lists what is waiting for your tables, with the station that made it: “Take it to the table, then tap Served.” Once you have, the table moves on to its next label.
My shift
Link to this section: My shiftTap the person at the top right. My shift shows what you sold, the customers you served, your tips and the M-Pesa you took at tables. While any of your bills is open it says how many, such as 1 bill still open (KES 2,050): “Settle or hand them over before you go; a supervisor then clears you.”
Guests calling from their table
Link to this section: Guests calling from their tableWhen the business puts QR codes on its tables, the bell at the top opens Guests at their tables: a guest calling the waiter, asking for the bill or sending an order. “From the QR code on the table. An order reaches the bill only when you accept it.”
For bars and lounges
At a bar, the floor says tab where a restaurant says bill: New tab at the bottom, and each tab’s total on its table.
Good to know
