Your role

Field or extension officer

Your work as an agrovet's field officer. You visit farmers, keep the farmer register and the advice records, and follow up their credit and the co-operatives' check-offs. You have no till.

Kila describes the role: “Visits farmers: keeps the farmer register and advice records, follows up credit and check-offs. No till.” Kila offers it to businesses under the Farm chemicals rules, such as agrovets and agricultural-input distributors. At Mkulima Agrovet, Esther Wanjiru is the field and extension officer, for every branch.

Kila opens your Dashboard: “Here is how Mkulima Agrovet is doing across all branches”. Choose a branch, or keep All branches. Farmer credit due at harvest (1) shows what farmers owe and what is overdue, what falls due at each harvest and what each group owes. With it are Sales today by product class, Services due and reminders and Subsidy vouchers this season, and under The period in detail, Receivables and credit. Your menu has no Point of sale: your work is in Advice records (2), Farmers (3) and Credit.

Needs a manager

  • Selling, and redeeming subsidy vouchers. You have no till, and redeeming a voucher is a sale: the agro-dealer in charge or a cashier redeems it at the counter.
  • Programmes, seasons and settings. Setting up a subsidy programme is for the agro-dealer in charge and the owner. The seasons’ harvest days and Agrovet settings are the owner’s.

Why does Redeem a voucher say Voucher not redeemed? Redeem a voucher shows on Subsidy programmes and vouchers, but redeeming takes the farmer’s share as a sale, and your role does not sell. Kila checks before anything is recorded:

Kila shows:

Voucher not redeemed

Your role does not allow this. Ask an administrator for access.

Nothing is redeemed. Send the farmer to the counter with their voucher.

Can I record advice for a farmer who is not on the register? Yes. Type their name in Or the farmer’s name, or record them first with Record a farmer so their advice, credit and vouchers stay together.

Where do the safety periods on the advice come from? From the products you add: “Safety periods come from the products when left empty.” Type a Pre-harvest interval (days) or a Withdrawal period (days) to record another.
