Your role

Technician

Your day on My jobs, on your phone, starting the clock, sending findings, asking for parts and marking the work done, and what needs someone else.

As a technician you do the work: Kila says the role “Delivers services and works on assigned jobs.” At a workshop you see the jobs given to you, in the order to work on them, on your phone.

At a workshop, Kila opens My jobs: how many are open, about how many hours of labour are left and how many you finished today. The first job is marked Next. Each job shows what needs doing, the customer’s complaint, the parts (from the store, reserved or issued) and the time agreed and clocked, with the buttons for the work.

  1. Start the clock. Tap Start on the job you begin; Pause when you stop. Your time is costed on the job.
  2. Send findings. Found more wrong? Tap Findings: “What you found and the work it needs. The desk prices it and asks the customer; the job waits for their answer.” Tap Send to the desk.
  3. Ask for a part. Tap Ask for a part: “The parts desk issues it, orders it for the job or tells you it cannot be had.” Tap Ask the parts desk.
  4. Add photos with Photo, or print a Paper copy of the job.
  5. Mark it done. Tap Done. The job goes to the checker, not to the customer. See Tell the customer a job is ready.

At a business that works at sites, the list is My visits, with On my way and Arrived: see Tell the customer you are on the way. With no signal, your taps wait on the phone (“Kept on this phone”) and go when the connection is back.

  • See and work on the jobs given to you. On the job board you see only those: “Jobs assigned to you.”
  • Start and pause the clock, add findings and photos, ask the parts desk for parts, mark the work done.

No approval limits: anything that needs approval goes to someone else.

  • Prices. The desk prices your findings: prices on an estimate are set by the service manager or the service advisor.
  • Passing your own work. Someone else checks it before the customer is told it is ready.
  • Which jobs you get. A service manager or workshop controller gives them out: see Give a job to a technician.

The checker sent my job back. What now? Kila tells you, with a notification such as “JOB-000102 failed the bench test before ready” and the checker’s reason. Fix it and tap Done again.

I forgot to start the clock. A manager can add the time on the job card with Add time by hand.

The part I need is not in the store. Ask for it anyway: the parts desk orders it for the job, and the job waits for parts until it arrives.
