Step by step
Bill an insurer or SHA at the till
When an insurer, SHA or a staff scheme covers the patient, choose their cover at payment. The payer's share goes on its account to claim, and the patient pays the rest.
Many patients come with SHA, an insurer’s card or their employer’s scheme. Kila works out what the payer pays and what the patient pays from the payer’s rules, puts the payer’s share on its account for the claims clerk to claim, and takes only the patient’s share at the till.
Put the patient on the sale
Tap Add a customer (optional) and choose the patient. Their cover comes with them.
Add the medicines and tap Charge
Add them as for any sale. A prescription medicine still needs its prescription and the pharmacist: Dispense a prescription.
Choose who pays
Under Insurance or scheme, Paid by starts at The customer. Choose the patient’s cover: it shows the payer, the member number and what is left on the cover, such as “Bima Bora Insurance Ltd · BBI/4100003/01 · KES 118,524.00 left”.
Check each share
Kila works out the split and says why: “The payer pays KES 67.50; the customer pays KES 7.50 now”, “Co-pay of 10%: KES 7.5.” Amount due drops to the patient’s share.
Take the patient's share
Take the KES 7.50 by cash or M-Pesa. Kila says “Paid in full by cash and on account.” The receipt is made out to Bima Bora Insurance Ltd: the patient’s share as cash and Bima Bora’s KES 67.50 On account.
Tip
Take exactly the patient’s share, the Amount due, by M-Pesa or with the right money in cash.
The payer’s share now waits under Pharmacy › Insurance and SHA claims until the claims clerk puts it in a claim: Claim from insurers and SHA.
Paid by shows only The customer
Link to this section: Paid by shows only The customerKila has no cover recorded for this patient. Take the whole amount from them now, and ask the claims clerk to record their cover for next time.
- Claim from insurers and SHA: what happens to the payer’s share.
- Claims clerk: who looks after the payers.
Next: hand over the medicines and the receipt.
