Farm

A crop or mixed farm. Kila keeps each field and herd as a cost centre, records the milk cow by cow, and calls each branch a farm.

A farm grows crops, keeps animals, or both, and sells what it raises. Kila runs it as a production business shaped for the farm: its branches are farms, its fields and herds are cost centres, and its home page shows the farm’s day rather than the plant’s lines.

  • Fields, herds and milk is in the Make menu: “Seasons, inputs and harvests by field; animals by tag with their treatments and withdrawal periods; milk by milking.” The farm manager and the herdsmen open on it.
  • Milk cow by cow. Each milking is recorded by ear tag, and the milk of a cow in her withdrawal period is withheld: see Record a milking.
  • Fields and herds as cost centres. Inputs from the store or bought in are kept against each field or herd: see Follow a field or herd’s costs.
  • The home page has Farm today: milk, withdrawals and seasons, and leaves out the plant’s cards for the lines, intake, QA, the shift log, the handover and finished goods cover.

Kinangop Dairy Farm, a dairy and potato farm in North Kinangop, runs this way in the demo.
