Step by step
Print an X reading
Print your shift so far, with sales, payments by method, VAT and the cash expected in the drawer, without closing it. Nothing changes.
An X reading is your shift so far: what you sold, what you took by each method, the VAT and the cash Kila expects in the drawer now. It changes nothing. Your shift stays open and you carry on selling. Once the shift is closed, its closing report is the Z report.
Open the shift panel
At the top of the till, tap your shift number, or open the menu under your name and choose Shift and cash.
Tap Print X reading
It is under Sales and Cash expected now.
Check the reading, then tap Print
Kila shows X reading: and your shift number, “a reading so far; nothing changes”: Sales, Returns and Net, what you took by each method, the VAT, the discounts, voids and times the drawer opened without a sale, and the cash, such as “Float KES 2,000.00 + cash sales KES 550.00 − refunds KES 0.00 ± paid in and out − drops KES 0.00 = expected KES 2,550.00”. Tap Print and choose the till’s receipt printer: the slip is 80 mm wide, headed X READING, and ends with the time it was printed and your name.
Tap Close
Your shift is still open, with the same figures. Carry on selling.
You need the reading of another cashier’s shift
Link to this section: You need the reading of another cashier’s shiftA cashier prints readings of their own shift. A till supervisor or branch manager opens the shift in Sales › Shifts and taps X reading while it is open, or Z report once it is closed, which Kila calls “the closing report”. Till’s day gives the whole trading day on that till. While a shift on it is still open, it is a reading too:
Good to know
The owner and managers see every till’s day together, with the money check, in the trading day.
- Close a shift: count the drawer at the end of your shift.
- Move cash during a shift: paid in, paid out and drops, which the reading takes into account.
- How shifts and cash-ups work: what Kila expects in the drawer.
Next: carry on selling. At the end, close your shift.
