Step by step
Sell a restricted product
Some pesticides are sold only with the buyer recorded. Kila asks for the buyer's name, phone number and ID number before it takes the payment, and keeps them in the register.
Kila sells a restricted pesticide, such as a zinc phosphide rat bait or Methomyl, only once the buyer’s name, phone number and ID number are recorded. It asks for them at the payment, prints the buyer on the receipt and keeps the sale, with the batch it came from, in the restricted product sales register.
Which products count is set by the Farm chemicals rules: products marked Restricted use (the buyer is recorded), and those in the WHO hazard classes the rules name. At Mkulima Agrovet the register says “Products marked restricted use, hazard classes IA, IB.”
Add the product
Scan or search for it and tap it, as for any product. Nothing is asked yet.
Add the farmer, if they are on file
Tap Add a customer (optional) and find the farmer by name, phone or number. Their name and phone number then come from their record. A buyer who is not on file needs no customer: you type their details at the payment.
Tap Charge
The payment opens with Record the buyer: and the product, asking for the Buyer’s name, the Phone number and the ID number. Cash, M-Pesa and the other ways to pay stay grey until all three are there.
For a farmer on the register, the payment also shows their farm: the ward, farm size, crops, livestock, group, KIAMIS number and the last advice they were given.
Fill in what is missing
The name and phone are already filled in from the farmer’s record: Kila says “Details left empty are taken from Kiprono Chepkwony’s customer record.” Type the ID number from the buyer’s ID. For a buyer who is not on file, type all three.
Take the payment
Choose how they pay, such as Cash, and finish the sale as usual: see Take cash.
Hand over the receipt
The receipt names the buyer, such as “Restricted products sold to Kiprono Chepkwony, ID 26540199.” A pesticide whose Pre-harvest interval in days (pesticide) is filled in on the product adds a line for the farmer: “Methomyl 90SP 100g: pre-harvest interval 7 days. Do not harvest the crop within it after spraying.” Both lines come with the Farm chemicals rules: there is nothing to switch on.
The sale is now in the Restricted product sales register with the buyer, the product’s PCPB registration number, its hazard class and the batch the sachet came from.

The ID number stays empty for a farmer on file

Kila asks you to check the buyer’s details

Correct the phone number, or the ID number when Kila says “the ID number has letters, numbers and dashes only”, then tap Complete sale. The payment you took stays on the sale while you do.
The buyer has no ID with them
