Fixing a problem
Open a shift before selling
Your business sells only on an open shift, and your role cannot open one, so the till does not sell for you. Ask a cashier or supervisor to ring up the sale, or ask the owner for a role that opens shifts.
What it means
Link to this section: What it meansYour business asks for an open shift on the till before any sale, so every shilling belongs to someone’s drawer. Your role, such as Sales representative, can sell but cannot open a shift. With no shift of your own, the till shows this message instead of the products, and the top of the till says No shift open.
What to do
Link to this section: What to do- Read the message, and the top of the till: No shift open.
- Ask a cashier or supervisor with a shift open on a till to ring up the sale for you.
- If selling at the till is part of your work, ask the owner or an administrator for a role that opens shifts, such as Cashier.
Needs a manager
The owner or an administrator opens the person under Administration › Users and roles. Roles and where they apply shows their role. They tap Change and give them a role that opens shifts, or give a custom role the permission Open and close own shift.
If it keeps happening
Link to this section: If it keeps happeningThe owner decides whether the till needs a shift before selling, under Administration › Settings, Point of sale: Cashiers open a shift before selling. “A shift tracks the float, cash taken and the count at close.”
- Open a shift: what a cashier does at the start of a shift.
- How roles and permissions work: what each role includes.
- Create a custom role: a role made for one job.
- The till asks you to open your shift: when your role can open one.
