Step by step

Sign in and set up two-step verification

Sign in at your business's address with your email and password. Owners and administrators should also switch on two-step verification, so signing in needs a code from their phone too.

Who can do it
Owner, Administrator, Branch manager and Cashier

Everyone signs in with their own email and password, so every sale, count and approval carries their name. Two-step verification adds a six-digit code from an app on your phone, so a stolen password alone cannot open the business.

  1. Open your business's address

Open your workspace address, such as nuru-general-store.kilabiashara.co.ke. The page names the business and its address: Sign in to Nuru General Store.

Sign in to Nuru General Store: the business name and address (1), the email and password filled in (2) and the Sign in button (3).Sign in to Nuru General Store: the business name and address (1), the email and password filled in (2) and the Sign in button (3).
  2. Type your email and password

“Use the email and password Nuru General Store set up for you.”

  3. Tap Sign in

Kila opens your first screen: the dashboard for an owner, which greets you (“Karibu, Amina”), and the till for a cashier.

You need an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password.

  1. Open Profile and security

Tap your name at the top of the screen and choose Profile and security. Under Two-step verification, Kila says it is “Required for platform staff and recommended for owners and administrators.” Tap Set up two-step verification.

  2. Add the setup key to your app

“Add this key to Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password, then enter the six-digit code it shows.” In the app, add an account and type the Setup key.

  3. Type the code from your app

Type the six digits the app shows for Kila in Code from your app.

  4. Tap Switch on

Kila says Two-step verification is on: “Your account asks for a code at sign-in.”

  5. Type the code each time you sign in

After your password, Kila asks: Confirm it’s you. “Enter the six-digit code from your authenticator app.” Type the code the app shows now and tap Verify and continue.

Good to know

Users and roles shows how many people have it on: “active users have it switched on. Owners and administrators should.”

Kila shows:

Not signed in.

That email and password do not match. Check them and try again.

Check the email and type the password again. Forgot it? “Ask your business administrator to reset it: Kila emails you a link to choose a new one.”

Kila shows:

Not signed in.

That code did not match. Use the latest code from your authenticator app.

The code changes every 30 seconds. Type the one the app shows now.

Switch two-step verification off and set it up again on the new phone. Under Profile and security, type your password in Confirm with your password to switch it off and tap Switch off. Kila says Two-step verification is off. Then follow the steps above.
