Step by step
Set up tanks, pumps and nozzles
Before the first shift, add each tank with the fuel it holds, its capacity and its dip chart, then each pump, and each nozzle with the tank it draws from and its meter reading.
Kila sells fuel from nozzles, and each nozzle draws from a tank. Set them up once per branch, in that order: the tanks, then the pumps, then the nozzles. Kila’s set-up list has them as three steps: tanks with their fuel, capacity and dip chart; pumps; and nozzles with the tank each draws from and its meter reading.
Before you start
Link to this section: Before you start- Each fuel is a product of its own, such as Diesel, with its Fuel grade. In the list of products to choose from, “Products with a fuel grade are listed first.”
- Have each tank’s dip chart to hand (from its calibration), and read each nozzle’s totaliser before you add it.
Open Tanks and pumps
In Kila’s menu, open Forecourt › Forecourt and choose the Tanks and pumps tab. It lists the branch’s tanks, each with its Product, Capacity, Book stock and Dip chart, then the pumps and their nozzles.
Name the tank, its fuel and its capacity
Type the Tank name, such as Tank 2, diesel (car lanes), choose the Product it holds and type its Capacity in litres.
Steps 2 to 4 on one screen. Paste its dip chart
Under Dip chart, type or paste the tank’s chart: “One point per line: millimetres and litres, for example 1000 9000. Turns a dip in mm into litres.” With a chart, the tank can be dipped by the stick in millimetres.
Tap Add tank
Kila says Saved: “The change is in the audit log.” The tank joins the list with the number of points on its chart, such as 5 points.
Add each pump
Under New pump, type the pump’s name, such as Pump 3, truck lane, and tap Add pump. It shows with “No nozzles yet.”
Steps 5 and 6. Add each nozzle
Choose the Pump and the Tank the nozzle draws from, give it a Nozzle name such as 3A Diesel, high flow, type the Meter reading now from its totaliser, and tap Add nozzle. The nozzle shows under its pump with its tank, product and meter.
Each nozzle’s meter is then “the totaliser reading at its last closing”: the first attendant’s shift opens it at the reading you typed.
A tank or a pump is no longer used
Link to this section: A tank or a pump is no longer usedTap Retire beside the tank, or Retire pump beside the pump. It stays in the list, greyed, with Use again, and its history stays with it. A retired pump’s nozzles are retired with it, and the forecourt device stops offering them.
Good to know
Use again brings a pump back without its nozzles: they stay retired, and this screen has no way to bring a nozzle back. Add the nozzles again, each with its meter reading now.
Two tanks of the same fuel show the same book stock
Link to this section: Two tanks of the same fuel show the same book stockBook stock on this tab is the fuel’s stock at the branch, not each tank’s: both diesel tanks show the diesel the station holds. Each tank’s own book is on the Wet stock tab: its last dip, plus deliveries into it, less the litres its nozzles pumped.
Needs a manager
Only someone who manages the branches or the settings, such as the owner, sees the Tanks and pumps tab. A station manager sees the other tabs without it.
- The Forecourt page: what each tab is for.
- Dip the tanks: where the dip charts are used.
- Fuel station: the rest of the set-up list.
Next: set the pump prices (Change pump prices), then add the pump attendants and their PINs under Forecourt › Attendants and cash-ups.
