Herdsman
You look after the animals. Record each milking cow by cow on a phone, and the animals' treatments, services and calvings.
Kila describes the herdsman as one who “records milk, births, services and treatments of the animals. No costs or stock.” The milkers, farm hands and calf attendants at Kinangop Dairy Farm work with the same role.

Your day
Link to this section: Your day- Record each milking. After the morning and the evening milking, type each cow’s litres: Record a milking. A cow in her withdrawal period is marked withheld, and her milk stays out of stock.
- Record what happens to the animals. On Animals, tap Record on the animal and choose what happened: Treatment, Vaccination, Service or AI, Calving or birth, Weight, Sold, Slaughtered, Died or Note. A treatment’s medicine sets the withdrawal period: “Its withdrawal period applies (else milk 3 days, meat 28 days).”
- Register a new animal. Register an animal adds one by its ear tag, with its herd.

- Costs and stock are the farm manager’s and the store’s: you record the animals and the milk.
- A milking already in stock cannot be recorded again: “The evening milk of 2026-10-30 is already in stock.” Tell the farm manager if a figure was wrong.

I forgot a cow and the milking is saved. Once a milking’s milk is in stock it cannot be recorded again. Tell the farm manager.
