Your role
QA officer
You decide when a batch is safe to sell. Record each batch's readings, release it or reject it, keep the HACCP records and trace batches for a recall.
Kila describes the QA officer’s work as “quality checks, holds and releases, recalls, the HACCP plan and its records, audits and issues, and tracing batches. No costs.” At a food business, no batch is sold until you release it.
When you sign in
Link to this section: When you sign inKila opens Quality and release: “The day’s intake tests, batches waiting for release, the critical control points and recalls. Each released batch has its certificate of analysis.” The figures across the top start with Held for release; below are the Batches held for release (“Release once every required check has passed; reject with the reason.”) and the Critical control points today.
Your day
Link to this section: Your day- Open a held batch. On your desk, tap Decisions and QC plans: the Held for release tab lists each batch waiting. Open one: it is Held for QC, and until every required check has passed Kila says Not ready to release, with what is not checked yet.
- Record the readings. Under Record readings (“The latest reading of each check counts.”), type each reading or tap Pass or Fail, then tap Save readings. Kila says Readings saved.
- Release it. With every required check passed, Release for sale is ready: tap it, and the batch is Released. A batch that is not fit has Reject the batch instead.
- Keep the HACCP records. HACCP holds “critical control points, their limits and the records: readings, corrective actions and verification.” Readings waiting for you are under To verify.
- Trace a batch. Trace and recall goes “from a lot to what was made from it and who bought it, and back to the materials and suppliers.”
