Step by step
Dispense a prescription
Hand over the medicines a clinician prescribed, with their labels, from the clinic's Dispensing screen.
When a clinician finishes a consultation with medicines prescribed, the patient goes to the pharmacy and their prescription waits on Dispensing. You check it, print the labels and hand the medicines over; the bill takes them off the stock.
Check the prescription
Dispensing shows each prescription waiting at your branch: the patient, the prescriber, who pays (Cash or the insurer) and how long they have waited, then each medicine with its quantity and its directions. Call shows the patient’s number on the waiting-room screen.
Steps 1 to 3 on one card. Print the labels
Tap Labels. Each label has the medicine and its quantity, how to take it, the patient’s name, the date, the clinic and Keep out of reach of children.
Dispense
Hand the medicines over and tap Dispense. Kila runs the pharmacy checks, then says:
The prescription leaves the list.
Send the patient to pay
The visit stays At the pharmacy until it is billed. Open it from Clinic › Patient queue: it says Medicines dispensed, and Bill KES … bills it there. Or ask the front desk to set its Stage to At billing, and the patient waits on the billing desk.
Your role does not allow this
Link to this section: Your role does not allow thisA pharmacist cannot move a visit from one stage to the next. Bill it yourself from the visit, or ask the front desk to set the stage.
Good to know
Dispensing runs the pharmacy checks: the prescriber, scheduled medicines and the controlled drugs register. A clinic with its own pharmacy works under the Pharmacy rules, as a pharmacy shop does.
- See a patient: where the prescription comes from.
- Bill a visit: what comes next.
Next: the patient pays at the billing desk.
