Step by step
Print dispensing labels
Print a label for each medicine dispensed on a prescription, with the patient, the dose and the pharmacist, from the finished sale or later from the sale's page.
Every medicine dispensed on a prescription gets its own label. Kila fills it in from the prescription you recorded at the till, so the directions you typed there are what the patient reads on the box.
Before you start
Link to this section: Before you start- The sale is complete, with its prescription: Dispense a prescription. The label prints what you wrote in Directions for each medicine: “Printed on the dispensing label.”
Tap Print dispensing labels
On the finished sale, tap Print dispensing labels. It shows only when the sale dispensed a prescription.
Print them
Kila opens the print window with one label for each medicine. Choose your label printer and print.
Later, from the sale's page
To print them again, open the sale, for example from the prescription under Pharmacy › Prescriptions, repeats and owings (Open the sale). The card Dispensed on prescription says who approved it, “Approved by Dr. Brian Otieno.”, and has Print labels.
What a label says
Link to this section: What a label saysEach label is sized for a 70 by 40 mm label roll and reads, from the top:
- Dawa Bora Chemists and the prescription number, such as RX-000117.
- The branch’s address and phone: Tom Mboya Street, next to the Kenya National Archives, Nairobi CBD.
- The medicine, Amoxicillin 500mg capsules, 21, with Quantity: 1 and the date.
- The directions, boxed: “1 capsule three times a day for 7 days. Complete the course.”
- For: Mutua Ruto.

Tip
The dispensing pharmacist on the label is the one who approved the medicine, with their PPB registration number. Write the directions in full at the till: the label prints them word for word.
- Dispense a prescription: where the directions are written.
- Print or send a receipt: the receipt, which names the prescription.
Next: hand the medicine over with its label, and explain the directions to the patient.
